When I first started writing my blogs on the fortunes of S.T.F.C, I had hoped that each article I submitted would be full of gushing praise and acclaim, as I passed comment on Salop’s merciless march towards promotion as we crushed our opponents week after week, writes our Shrews blogger David Craig.

Sadly, the way things are heading, you could all be tuning in to read the latest instalment on a relegation dogfight. Since my first blog on the 1st of October, Salop have managed to win one league match out of seven (the actual run is now one league win in nine), and that was a fortunate last-minute win against a side rooted to the foot of the table.

I could reel off other depressing stats, such as two goals scored in last five games; two league wins at home all season; last league goal from open play scored on the 14th of October etc etc.

If it carries on much longer, I will be prescribing Prozac from the quack’s. Saturday’s latest 2-0 defeat to Wimbledon/MK Dons was perhaps one of the most predictable outcomes of the weekend. I did imagine that punters up and down the British Isles would be pencilling in a home win on their coupons, if they did, they weren’t disappointed.

I did find Peter’s post match declaration that we had lost to the “best side in the division” a little pathetic, particularly as they had lost their previous three home matches, including a defeat to the Heffers.

 MK Dons are an average side, no more. If our players had played to their potential, then we could well have won, but we didn’t and instead the game was up after just 54 minutes.

So as we continue our freefall down the table (now 14th), things simply have to change and fast. It would help if Peters knew what his best XI is, but I don’t think he does. Confidence is clearly at a low ebb, and while our manager does have the backing from the vast majority of supporters, myself included, we now have two games this week which our quite simply “must win”.

Should we be dumped out of the Cup by the Worzels on Tuesday night, and then, I can barely type this, lose to Chester on Saturday, then knives will be sharpened and questions will have to be answered.

So Gary and the players, please, pretty please, with sugar on top, sort it out fellas.
