Alcohol is not all cheer

Why do teenagers feel the need to drink alcohol? As you have probably read or heard in the news, excessive drinking by young people under 18, has seen a 20 per cent rise in hospital admissions in that age group, writes our Teen Blogger Rhian.
There are a lot of teenagers getting their alcohol from ordering takeaways and the majority stand at shops asking adults to buy them alcohol. A lot of over 18 year olds do this, which encourages the teenagers to drink more.
I know because I’ve been through the phase where I thought its cool to drink and so are many of these other teenagers who drink just to act cool or to tackle bordem.
But that’s not always the case. Sometimes teenagers’ drinking is based on peer pressure. A lot of teenagers can become outcasts if they do not choose to drink alcohol.
With the amount of teenagers getting alcohol poisoning because their body can’t control their level of drinking, you’d have thought they’d have learned from their mistakes and how dependant it can leave you and how dangerous it sometimes can be.
I feel people should be more aware of this happening and not give in to teenagers who hang around shops begging to get their alcohol. Also shop assistants should be made more of aware of their age and ask for I.D. especially with take away orders.
