Musicians’ show was excellent

You can play an instrument or listen to music on your own, but real pleasure comes from sharing music with others. When Ironbridge Rotary Club arranged for the Jackfield Elcock Reisen Band to join the Abraham Darby Showband in Telford’s Town Centre this was demonstrated beyond doubt.

As if these superb bands were not enough, the voices of the Jubilee Fellowship Gospel Choir and the tambourines of the Salvation Army added to a night of musical excellence.

The concert was to raise money for the school band to appear at Carnegie Hall in New York next year.

The Jackfield Band, the Jubilee Choir and the Salvation Army gave their share of the proceeds to the school fund.

To put these immensely generous donations into perspective, Jackfield Band (even with the Elcock Reisen sponsorship) depends on concerts like this for its very existence.

It demonstrates the goodwill and community spirit musicians and their music generate.

Music is definitely a group activity.
