Two held after man injured

The 40-year-old man suffered serious face and chest injuries in the assault in Bucknell, between Ludlow and Knighton. Police and paramedics answered reports of the injured man yesterday.
Daphne Lewis, spokeswoman for Shropshire Ambulance Service, said today: “We were called to a property in Bucknell at about 1am yesterday, where a man in his 40s was found to have severe facial and chest injuries following a nasty assault.
“He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on full alert. His injuries were severe and very nasty.”
A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the assault and were today being questioned by detectives in Shrewsbury.
West Mercia Police spokesman Richard Ewels today said: “Police were alerted by the ambulance service of a serious incident in Bucknell at about 1.30am yesterday.
“Police attended an address where a man, aged 40, had been taken to hospital with serious head and internal injuries.
“His condition today is described as critical.
“Police carried out house-to-house inquiries in Bucknell yesterday and inquiries are continuing today along with forensic examinations.”
Mr Ewels said he could not comment on the specific nature of the man’s injuries at this stage.
Mr Ewels added: “A man and a woman are today in custody at Shrewsbury and are being questioned by detectives about this incident.”
