Man seriously injured in crash
Thursday 12th October 2006, 10:39AM BST.
The accident happened on the B4365, near Ludlow Golf Club, at Culmington at about 3pm yesterday and involved two saloon vehicles.
The road was closed for almost five hours while emergency services attended to the scene.
The man suffered multiple injuries, including head injuries, and underwent emergency surgery last night. Police accident investigation specialists were also called to work out what happened.
They made a fingertip search of the road for clues as to what had caused the crash.
Steve Parry, from Shropshire Ambulance Service said: “We treated a male in his 20s at the scene while he was being freed from his vehicle and he was then conveyed to Selly Oak Hospital by air ambulance.
“His injuries were thought to be serious.”
A spokesman from the County Air Ambulance said: “We took a 20-year-old male to Selly Oak with multiple injuries. He is in quite a serious condition.”
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service used cutting equipment to free the man from the vehicle and also assisted in making the vehicles safe.
The road was closed until 8pm.
