Lurcher rescued from roof
Wednesday 11th October 2006, 10:20AM BST.
The lurcher was seen on the top of the house near Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre on Oteley Road, by a member of the public, who called the emergency services.
The dog’s owner, who did not wish to be named, was out at the time of the incident shortly before 2pm yesterday.
She said she did not know about her pup’s adventures until she was informed by a neighbour.
The dog owner said she had only been gone for half an hour and when she had returned the pooch was curled up in the house and nothing was amiss.
But Gavin Gow, fire control spokesman, said firefighters rescued the dog using ladders before the dog was put back and the roof-top window closed.
He said: “It looks like there was a roof window open and the dog got out.”
