Owen Lavelle is also celebrating after being nominated to join the prestigious British Interior Designers Association, an elite body which recognises services and skill in the industry.
Mr Lavelle previously ran a successful interior design business in Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury before opening the Ann Boleyn Tea Rooms in Newport.
“I moved away to London to work on Denro House in London and was approached to make the drapes for many of the principal rooms.
“On completion of the works I was asked to get involved in working on a luxury villa in Puerto De Mazzaron in Spain. It was an amazing project which I was fortunate to have been a part of, working with international designers from all fields.”
After missing Shropshire so much, Mr Lavelle has now decided to return home, offering his services as a consultant in interior design.
“I am starting again with new ideas and refreshed imagination. And I have since received a letter from BIDA in London saying that I have been nominated for my work, so after 17 years I am gaining recognition in the industry I have worked so hard in.”
Mr Lavelle now has to submit a portfolio of his work to the BIDA panel in London in order to become a member.
“Its all very exciting. I’m happy to be back in Shropshire and working as an interior design consultant.
“Because I do not have the overheads of a premises, I am able offer advice and my expertise across all the areas of design without the extra expense. This is obviously a benefit I can pass on to clients.”
