Novelist finds roots in county

Monday 2nd October 2006, 4:53PM BST.

Mrs Hicklin said: “It has been a difficult book to write, due to the content. She Slept Through It follows three families trying to cope with the sudden death of their children.

“Each story is true and shows us that there is hope after such a devastating loss.”

Mrs Hicklin added that her ancestors migrated from Scotland and England in the 1700s.

She said: “I have ship records for two of them, Samuel Lowe and John Peter, sailing to America in 1754 on the ship Antine Sarah Mary.

“They had set sail from Amsterdam, but their parents and numerous family members remained in Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, London and the surrounding area.

“There are still many Lowe and Peter families throughout England.
