Accident man, 84, dies

The pensioner, who suffered serious head injuries in the crash, was trapped in his car for an hour before being freed by firefighters on Wednesday night.
The crash happened on the westbound carriageway between junction seven of the M54, near Wellington, and the Preston island.
The Control Motorway Police Group said the crash involved a red Peugeot 309 car and a Polish-registered blue Scania HGV.
Sergeant Ian Elliot from the Central Motorways Police Group (CMPG) said: “As a result of the collision, a male aged 84 from the Oswestry area was taken to Shrewsbury Hospital with life threatening injuries and subsequently died.”
Mr Elliot appealed for any witnesses to contact the CMPG on (0121) 6261285.
Meanwhile, a 74-year-old man was cut free from his vehicle and airlifted to Birmingham’s Selly Oak hospital with head injuries after a smash near Telford last night. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The crash involved a Land Rover and a BMW.
Paramedics took his 72-year-old wife to the Princess Royal Hospital with back and shoulder injuries after the collision at the Castle Farm Way roundabout in Priorslee just before 6pm.
