Pervert was part of police group
Saturday 16th September 2006, 11:54PM BST.
The 36-year-old walked free from court yesterday after admitting eight charges of making indecent photographs, and one of possessing 116 indecent images.
Judge Robin Onions, at Shrewsbury Crown Court, sentenced him to a community order, which involves three years supervision during which time he must complete a sex offenders programme.
A town businessman, Reynolds, of Bell Lane, was also a member of one of the West Mercia force’s independent advisory groups.
Police spokeswoman Kate Tonge said: “West Mercia Constabulary is committed to the protection of children and takes offences of this nature extremely seriously.”
“Matthew Reynolds was suspended from his role as a member of one of West Mercia Constabulary’s Independent Advisory Groups at the time of his arrest in March,” she said.
“As a result of his conviction in court, he is no longer a member of this group.”
Reynolds, who was arrested after police received credit card information from the United States, would have been subject to police checks before joining the advisory group.
The groups are made up of volunteer members of the public who help improve policing.
