All smiles for royal visit
Friday 15th September 2006, 6:07PM BST.
Camilla chatted with Muller’s head of innovation and nutrition, Maryann Denfhy, before going on to admire a garden designed and built by students at Reaseheath College in Nantwich yesterday.
On hearing that Market Drayton-based Muller had sponsored the fruit and vegetable garden, and that primary school children from across the region had become involved by sowing seeds, Her Royal Highness said: “I think what Muller has done is fantastic – keep it up. It’s so important that children learn about growing and cooking healthy food.”
Maryann, who herself completed a garden design course at Reaseheath, said: “It was a dream come true to see Camilla showing such enthusiasm about the way the children had been encouraged to become part of the project.
“I was really impressed – Camilla came over as a really warm and friendly person.”
Camilla spent more than an hour chatting to children who had helped with the garden, which won gold and best in show at the BBC Gardeners World Show in Birmingham and silver at the RHS Tatton Flower Show.
Camilla planted a tree in the college grounds to commemorate her visit. She toured four sites in the Crewe and Nantwich area, all based around health.
