Victim of bug is ‘improving’

Thursday 14th September 2006, 7:20PM BST.

The two other men, Paul Coulter, 46, of Whittington near Oswestry and Peter Edgerton, from Whitchurch, were today in a stable condition.

Extensive investigations have so far failed to find any evidence that the cases are connected.

A hospital spokesman said today: “Mr Williams is improving, the other two men are in a stable condition.”

Preliminary tests on samples of environmental water from sources such as cooling towers near the areas where the three patients live and work have all produced negative results.

A fourth patient, who has not been named, is understood to have contracted the illness overseas but is not being treated in the intensive care unit at the hospital.
