Rescue mission for roof-top dog
Saturday 9th September 2006, 10:12PM BST.
Millie’s owner Wendy Lucas said her pet was afraid of lawnmowers and had been spooked when she heard a neighbour mowing his lawn.
She said she found Millie on the roof above a downstairs window after picking her grandson Jake, five, up from school.
Mrs Lucas said she had tried to persuade Millie to come down but she had been too scared to venture off the roof because she had recently broken a leg jumping out of another window.
“She got out of the bedroom window and got herself stuck on the roof,” she said.
“She was too scared to jump and wouldn’t come back in through the window.
“She’s fine until she hears a lawnmower and then something goes off in
her head and she’s got to escape.
“I tried to get her down using ladders but she wouldn’t come down – she was up there for about an hour and a half.
“I don’t know what to do with her really. She has only been like this in the last 12 months.”
Mrs Lucas said her pet had recovered well from her ordeal on Friday afternoon but was now in the dog-house.
