Bucks fear striker crisis

Regular partner Gary Hay is struggling with a groin injury and assistant manager Larry Chambers describes his chances as “very slim indeed”.

It was hoped Justin Marsden, a summer signing from Solihull, might be fit to feature by this weekend, having been sidelined since the end of pre-season by a suspected groin injury of his own.

But a trip to a specialist yesterday brought bad news, with the pacy forward ruled out for up to five weeks after it was discovered he had torn a fibre in his groin.
