Teacher killed in road crash

Monday 4th September 2006, 11:20AM BST.

Mr Reeves hailed from Shropshire and taught in Shrewsbury for three years before joining Sprowston High in Norwich earlier this year.

He was a front seat passenger in a convertible 1967 Jaguar which veered off the A120 dual carriageway at Bradwell, Essex, in the early hours of Wednesday morning and died at the scene, police said.

Staff and students at Sprowston High School are to be offered counselling by Norfolk County Council next week following the tragedy.

The young teacher had helped pupils at Sprowston High achieve a school record haul of GCSE grades in religious studies and head of humanities John Allerhand described Mr Reeves as “a diamond”.

“Nick taught at Sprowston High School for only two terms from January but made a huge impact on the school,” he said.

“His incredible photographic memory – he never forgot a name – will be remembered as will his infectious sense of humour – he was a very funny and very friendly guy.”

Mr Reeves studied theology at Birmingham University and also spent a year researching the subject at Cambridge University.

The move to Norwich saw Mr Reeves living closer to his father Terence, who runs a dental practice in the city.
