Murray injury mars win
Monday 28th August 2006, 8:41AM BST.
Medical staff were due to assess the extent of the injury over the weekend while boss Mick McCarthy was guarded after the game.
Michael Oakes and Wayne Hennessey are also injured, leaving Carl Ikeme as the only fit senior keeper on the Molineux books.
But at least Wolves have a fortnight to get their keeper situation sorted out due to the international break.
McCarthy insisted he was not getting carried away by his side’s start to the season.
The tough-talking Tyke had just watched new signing Jemal Johnson hit his second winning goal in successive games to take Wolves up to fifth in table.
But he admitted Wolves hadn’t had it all their own way.
“I’ve just been taken to task about not smiling. I don’t believe in walking around if I’ve got a coathanger in my face upside down because the game has a knack of knocking it out of you.
“It would be wrong to suggest that we won easily. We had one great strike and one real bit of quality but I can’t say we were great and expansive and were the best team for 90 minutes. I’m pleased but my feet are firmly planted on the ground.”
He paid tribute to Johnson, who broke the deadlock with a superb strike just after half-time.
“It was a super strike. He’s a player who caught my eye when I saw him playing in a reserve game.
“I knew he would have an impact on the team but I would never have guessed he would score two winning goals in his first two starts for us.
McCarthy partnered Johnson with Carl Cort for the first time – and said he was happy with the way they linked up.
