Festivals to pull in crowds
Monday 28th August 2006, 8:30AM BST.
And organisers of most events were hoping that showery weather would stay at bay so revellers could enjoy the fun without getting soaked.
Big crowds were in Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park to enjoy the final day of the town’s folk festival.
Star singer Loudon Wainwright was this afternoon ending the festival and organiser Alan Surtees said the event had been a success.
In Ludlow, people descended on the town’s Millennium Green for a fun day and duck race while the Purslow Show, between Craven Arms and Clun, was celebrating its 60th anniversary.
Huge crowds were expected at Onslow Park, near Shrewsbury, today for the second day of the annual Steam Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally.
