One of the stars of the BBC1 reality show Any Dream Will Do is to perform in Shrewsbury in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Keith Jack, who finished second in the competition to find a new leading man for Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End musical, is to star as the show arrives at the Theatre Severn for a run between September 4 and 8.

A spokesman for the show said Keith has gone on to enjoy a successful career in the theatre since his appearance on the reality show in 2007, where he lost out to eventual winner Lee Mead.

"He went on to play the narrator in the UK tour of Joseph and in 2011 he took over the lead role, which he continues to play during the 2012 autumn tour," the spokesman said.

"Keith appeared as The Prince in Sleeping Beauty at the King's Theatre, Glasgow 2011 Christmas pantomime. He has also performed as Aladdin at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, and the title role in Peter Pan at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen.

"This colourful retelling of the biblical story about Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours sings out to young and old alike with a score which is crammed wall to wall with hits – including Jacob and Sons, Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do."

Tickets are priced at between £20.50 and £28.50 for adults and £16 for children.
