Poppy Day date for Wilfred Owen musical

A Shropshire show by former Brookside actor Dean Sullivan has been given a plug on national radio by EastEnders star Barbara Windsor.

Sullivan, famous for his role as Jimmy Corkhill in the Channel 4 soap, will be bringing his latest production – a Wilfred Owen musical called Bullets and Daffodils – to Oswestry in November.

Carry On star Windsor decided to play a song from the show during her stint standing in for Elaine Paige on her Radio 2 show.

She played the love theme from the musical entitled I Would Fight For You, written by Dean Johnson, and told the nation the show would be in Shropshire.

Mr Johnson said: “It is fantastic to have that on Radio 2 as it has seven million listeners.”
