The band, which has headlined the town's folk festival, will be at The Buttermarket nightclub, on Howard Street, on Friday, August 2.

Martin Monahan, owner of the Buttermarket, said: "Following the success of all the X Factor artists in recent months, we are delighted at last to announce a number of gigs to appeal to those who want to see some great live bands, and The Levellers are certainly going to be a popular choice.

"They have been, and still are, one of the best live bands around, and we're expecting it to be a sell-out."

Mr Monahan added: "We're certainly going to be putting Shropshire back on the map with some great live music of all different genres."

Tickets, which are priced from £19, will go on sale on tomorrow at 9am.
