Dan Owen, aka Blues Boy Dan, is a 19-year-old up-and-coming blues star from Shrewsbury who is developing a growing reputation across the UK for his incredible voice as his online success shows.

"The first I knew about the clip was when I started to receive messages from all over the world and the reaction has just been phenomenal," said Dan.

"The most remarkable thing is that the clip was actually shown on primetime Croatian Television to an audience of 4.7 million people."

Dan was invited to appear at the British Blues Festival in Newark to perform alongside seasoned musicians.

One of his performances from the festival – a rendition of Bob Dylan's 'Ballad of Hollis Brown' – was the clip that was uploaded to YouTube, and Dan said it was a real shock.

He said: "Thanks to the interest in that clip, many of my other performances which have been recorded at local events have also seen an increase in hits.

"The reaction has been nothing short of astonishing and since my appearance at the festival, I have been offered the chance to play at all kinds of venues across the UK.

"To have been asked to take part in this year's British Blues Awards was the absolute highlight of my career so far, and now with the interest on YouTube, I'm hoping there will be even more opportunities opening up."
