The delicious Jessie J wowed the sell-out crowd in Birmingham last night.

The British singer, with a unique, striking dress and sound style, was most definitely on form, treating the audience to many of her hit songs which have propelled her to the forefront of the UK music scene.

With her ghetto-pop style she was bound to leave her mark on the city. Despite a minor false start and having to check her setlist, along with just a couple of sound and lighting issues, the loyal fans didn’t seem to care or mind – and it didn’t disrupt from the top performance of the evening.

The Heart Beat tour opened with Big White Room and was followed by an array of her hit tunes, including Who’s Laughing Now, Rainbow, Do It Like a Dude and Price Tag. She had a fantastic clear and strong voice, and definitely knew how to appeal to her fans, making sure she spoke directly to a number of them and even inviting a very lucky 10-year-old girl onto the stage to sing with her.

Her set-list was also inspired and influenced by soulful legends Bob Marley and Luther Vandross which gave the show a lot more depth.

While it did seem to drop a little about three-quarters through the one-and-a-half hour evening with many of her more thoughtful songs, it didn’t ruin the overall show and the crowd seemed to love her.

Now fully mobile following her broken foot this year, Jessie J also gave the audience a sneak peak into one of her new songs from an up-coming album.

This tour is the second she has undertaken in the year – and while Birmingham was the first of many dates to come and it was a little rough around the edges, the show was a definite hit and I’m sure can only get better.
