Gregory Porter will to the take stage at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

Jazz superstar Gregory Porter will be the star name at the 70th anniversary Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

The Grammy award winner, who become an unlikely pop star at Glastonbury last year, will take to the stage at the week long festival on July 7.

He is part of a line up of international stars that include Wales' own Bryn Terfel, vocal harmony group The Overtones and the Only Boys Aloud Academi.

Rounding off the Eisteddfod and the Sunday Llanfest will be more home-grown talent, the Manic Street Preachers.

Tickets for the festival, which will run from July 3 to 9 went on sale for season ticket holders and Friends of the Eisteddfod yesterday and will be available to the public on February 9.

The 2017 event will be launched on July 3 with a rousing 70th anniversary concert featuring some of the best male voice choirs in Britain including local choirs, Froncysyllte and Rhos.

During the Eisteddfod week Grammy-award winning video game music composer Christopher Tin will join the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and soprano, Elin Manahan Thomas.
