The £3.5 million development, which is modelled on similar sites in Austria and Germany, will include 22 luxury wood-framed centrally-heated "glamping" tents containing double beds and their own bathrooms.

Based at the firm's Emstrey headquarters on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, the development is part of a 27-acre site which will include a recreation building built on the site of the current reception. The site will also retain its existing plots for caravans, with 122 pitches.

The resort will be named Love2Stay, and is being described as "Shropshire's luxury touring caravan and glamping resort".

A website set up for the new development states: "Love2Stay is a purpose-built Caravan Club-affiliated touring caravan site and glamping village situated on the edge of Shrewsbury. Hidden to uninvited eyes, the exceptional and unique architecture unites luxury and nature into a well-rounded premium touring caravan resort."

The resort will include a natural swimming pond with water gardens, fishing and wildlife pool, a wooden adventure play area, boot camp, outdoor yoga/pilates studio, a gym wellness centre, coffee shop, log fired pizza oven, barbecues and fire pits, dog walking, paths and barefoot trails.

Speaking when the project was announced, Salop Leisure managing director Mark Bebb said: "We are keen to develop a park that is a new concept at one with nature and will instil a feeling of well-being and tranquillity in our visitors.

"The resort is in a perfect location on the edge of Shrewsbury with fantastic views towards the Wrekin and the south Shropshire Hills. Shrewsbury is a really beautiful town and we believe that it deserves to attract more visitors."
