TV star Mark Watson will top the comedy bill at the Shrewsbury Fields Forever festival next month, organisers have announced.

The comedian, who has regularly appeared on shows such as Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, will be the headline act for the final night of the festival, which is running between September 14 and 16.

He will be joining fellow comedians Andrew Maxwell and Lucy Porter at the event, which will also include music from The Wombats, Ms Dynamite and Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon & Oscar Unplugged over the course of the weekend.

Festival director Dene Edwards said: “It’s great to announce that Mark Watson will be taking to the comedy stage at the first Sunday Jestival.

“I know that he is looking forward to appearing at the festival and has written some exclusive material especially for those attending.

“Our line-up is now almost complete, with most of the major acts in place.”

Mr Watson’s appearance at the festival will be the first of two shows in Shrewsbury this year for the comedian as he will also be appearing at Theatre Severn on November 11.
