The weather was cool but bright for the second day of the festival, with families turning out to see traditional dancing, music and street entertainment, along with knights in armour and a wealth of stalls in the festival field and in the town square.

Clun has been enacting the scene on May Day for decades, though its roots, of course, go back centuries – though this year there was a more modern slant put on the ancient myths with event organiser Jack Limond filming both talking about how confident they were about the fight beforehand and posting the videos on social media.

The Ice Queen was seen sipping a cool drink at the bar of Mr Limond's White Horse pub in Clun, while the Green Man's reply came the evening before the first day of the festival on Sunday – while he took a break from playing pool.

Mr Limond said the festival had gone in "fine style", with a community effort.

Aside from the the central figures, the day included appearance by groups including Bishop's Castle Samba Band and morris teams including the Shropshire Bedlams.
