A fun day will be held in a Shropshire village next month, with signed football shirts being auctioned off to raise funds for Hope House and the village's church.

Rodington Charity Fun Day will be held in the village hall on May 20 for the second year.

Last year a team of organisers raised £2,500 to be split between Midlands Air Ambulance and Rodington Church.

This year the funds will go towards Hope House and Rodington Church.

A number of items will be auctioned off on the day including a signed Wolves shirt, signed football and signed goalkeeper gloves, a signed Everton shirt, a signed West Brom shirt, and tickets to Cheltenham races.

One of the organisers, Graham Davies, said: "There are lots of things up for grabs, such as beauty treatments and services businesses have donated.

"We've had a hamper made up which we will be selling raffle tickets for at Wellington Market from next week at The Cheese Store.

"We're hoping it's going to be a big event, we're hoping for about 500 people, which is a lot for a tiny village.

"We've got lots going on on the day. We don't have a target amount we'd like to raise, we'd just like to raise as much as possible. We've got a tug-of-war competition which we want people to come along and take part in.

"It'll be a big fun day for everyone. Sometimes with fun days there's not enough to do but we're trying to do a bit more and have fun with it."
