Pop star Shane Lynch, who used to be in Boyzone, will join former World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty next weekend when they both lead 3,500 bikers on the annual 23-mile ride out to raise awareness and funds for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Shane is urging riders across the region to join him and Carl and sign up for the Bike4Life Ride Out on April 30.

In order for bikers to join Shayne and Carl, they will need to register in advance at bike4lifefest.com

Both stars will be supported by Triumph motorcycles of Birmingham and will be riding Triumph bikes for the event.

The festival will take place at the RAF Museum at Cosford and is preceded by the Bike4Life Ride Out. The ride out will start at 11.30am from Meole Brace with the 3,500 bikers led by Shane and Carl expected to take to the roads in convoy before arriving at RAF Cosford where the festival will be under way. Shane said: "I was delighted to be asked to support and join the campaign and to lead the ride out. I am a huge fan of the work of the Midlands Air Ambulance.

"This is a fantastic way for the biking community to come together, raise funds and pay it forward for the Midlands Air Ambulance and to appreciate how incredibly valuable this life saving service to us all.

"In the event of a serious accident, it is comforting to know we have such an incredible rapid lifesaving service that has paramedics and doctors on board saving lives by saving time. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to the incredible lifesaving work of the Midlands Air Ambulance."

Now in its seventh year, Bike4Life kickstarts the motorcycle season. The annual Bike4Life Festival raised over £40,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance last year.
