Organisers have announced that Ludlow Dog Day will be staged for another year.

The summer event is no ordinary dog show – now in its fourth year, it regularly attracts thousands along with their furry friends to stately home Stokesay Court, between Ludlow and Craven Arms.

The third annual dog day in 2016 saw more than 3,500 people come through the gates and raise nearly £21,000 for organisers Ludlow Rotary Club, which was split between a number of charities and causes, mostly local.

The main beneficiaries of this year's fund raising event have been announced as Canine Partners, Hope House Hospice, Forest Dog Rescue and The Alzheimer's Society.

Arnoud Roele, Rotary member and this year's event organiser, said: "Once again we must thank our generous host Caroline Magnus for allowing us to use the beautiful grounds of Stokesay Court as the venue for the event.

"For any event of this size we are heavily reliant on our sponsors, Hatfields Jaguar Land Rover Shrewsbury, Teme Vets, Hobsons Brewery, Tuffins and Bromfield Sand and Gravel. We would also like to hear from anybody who feels that they could offer to help us on the day as organising this major event requires a lot of people." Gates will open at 10am, on July 23, with competitions for all types of dog ranging from the best rescue dog to the 'scruffiest mutt'.

In addition, there will be a full programme of special events with dog display teams and demonstrations including flyball, dog agility and dog obedience. Food, tea and beer along with stalls and a children's activity area will also be available on the day. For details to go www.ludlowdogday.org.uk
