Cinderella wows crowds at the Stiwt Theatre

More than 3,000 panto-goers have already enjoyed one of the region's best-loved pantomimes, despite the curtain going up a little over a week ago.

Cinderella at The Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllanerchrugog, just over the Shropshire/Wales border, only opened last week but has already proved a success among those young and old.

The pantomime stars two Shropshire performers including Charlotte Knowles, from Oswestry, who is playing the leading role of Cinderella, and Michael Jenkins, from Gobowen, who is appearing as Prince Charming's sidekick Dandini, as well as directing the panto.

Director and Dandini star Michael said he's thrilled with how the production has been received so far.

He said: "The run has started with a bang, we have performed to over 3,000 school children this week alone, not including the evening and weekend performances to the general public.

"I am absolutely thrilled with the feedback we've been receiving, we've been inundated on social media with great comments and the cast has also received good old fashioned letters of thanks.

"Pantomime is clearly a family orientated style of performance, and this production Cinderella quite frankly has something for everybody."

The Only Way Is Essex's Ricky Rayment has also made his panto debut in this production.

Praising his celebrity co-star's performances, Michael said: "Ricky has been great to work with, it's quite remarkable that he's never been on stage before. He's taken to it like a duck to water, everything from his singing to dancing has been brilliant.

"I can honestly say that I think Ricky has a career in the live performance field."

Cinderella runs until December 31 at The Stiwt Theatre, with evening and matinee performances. Tickets are available from www.stiwt.com or from the box office on (01978) 841300.
