English Heritage is staging an evening of carols in the great hall of Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms, on Friday.

The evening will include a traditional English folk play and dancing by the Shrewsbury Mummers, featuring characters drawn from the unusual medieval street names of Shrewsbury, including Dogpole, Shoplatch and Mardol.

Carol singing will be led by Shropshire chamber choir The Gallery Singers and will include favourites such as "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", "Good King Wenceslas" and "O Come All Ye Faithful".

Alongside the entertainment, mulled wine and mince pies will be available to purchase.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 0370 333 1183.
