Download Festival 2017: Rob Zombie, Slayer, Good Charlotte and Sum 41 among new acts announced

Rob Zombie, Slayer and Good Charlotte are among the acts set to perform at next year's Download Festival, it has been announced.

The 2017 Donington Park event will see System of a Down, Biffy Clyro and Aerosmith headline.

Rob Zombie, a 51-year-old American musician, film director and screenwriter, is best known for hits such as Dragula, Living Dead Girl and Superbeast.

Slayer, meanwhile, is an American thrash metal band, founded back in 1981. They are best known for songs such as Raining Blood, Angel of Death and War Ensemble.

Good Charlotte and Sum 41 both formed in 1996. Good Charlotte is best known for songs such as The Anthem, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and Girls and Boys.

Sum 41, meanwhile, had hits with numbers such as In Too Deep and Fat Lip.

Joining them will also be Alter Bridge, Mastodon, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Sleeping With Sirens, Clutch, Coheed and Cambria, Devildriver and Airbourne.

More acts are still to be announced.

The three-day rock event will take place between June 9 and 11.
