With hundreds of floating lanterns, illuminated boats and carol singing, special guest Santa Claus travelled along the canal to the event at Talbot Wharf, in Newcastle Road, Market Drayton.

The Carols by the Canal event featured family games, activities and carol singing under the huge Christmas Tree.

Lisa Machin, from Talbot Wharf, said the event was a great success.

"It was well attended and we were lucky with the weather," she said.

"Each December the canal at Market Drayton comes alight with hundreds of floating lanterns, the lights of an enormous Christmas tree, and pretty illuminated narrowboats, which create a breathtaking backdrop for the event.

"Lots of people came along and there was a lovely festive atmosphere."
