Wellington Market's very first Comic Con taking place this weekend - watch the trailer

The main attractions include a real full-sized replica of Lightning McQueen, from Disney's Cars, and a Game of Thrones Iron Throne, signed by members of the cast.

Visitors will be able to take part in a Pokemon Hunt and in a geeky quiz, while those who dress up will be able to compete in a cosplay competition.

VIP Julian Seager, who has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones and Poldark, will be leading a charity auction, with money raised going to West Mercia Search and Rescue, Troop Aid and Telford Mind.

Organiser Emma Woodhouse-Unwin said: "It has taken about six months to plan. It has been a lot of pressure, there's a lot of things that can go wrong but we've managed to juggle things around.

"We've got some amazing things coming. It's been really good and the response we've had on social media has been overwhelming.

"We've had 20,000 people look at our event on social media – what are we going to do if they all turn up?"

Emma sees the Comic Con as a chance to remind people that Wellington has changed quite a lot in the last few years, and that there's a lot of reasons to visit the market.

She said: "It's not the place it used to be. There's lot of new shops – it's cooler."

Wellington Comic Con will take place in Wellington Market from 9am on Saturday.
