Sleeping Beauty at Oakengates Theatre at the Place is proving popular and sales are considerably up on last year, according to the theatre manager.

Debbie King said: "With less than two weeks until the first panto show of the season we are delighted that sales are as strong as ever and are considerably up on this time last year.

"Our pantomime has grown in success and gone from strength to strength each year. It has established itself as a Christmas tradition not to be missed. Packed with comedy, dance, music, magical sets, costumes and not to mention plenty of audience participation, this year's Sleeping Beauty will be another performance to wow Telford audiences this Christmas."

This year's production stars comedy legend, Bernie Clifton, famous for performing with Oswald the Ostrich, returning to the Telford stage in the starring role of Muddles.

Alongside Bernie, Sleeping Beauty will star Wink Taylor from CITV's 'The Sooty Show as The King, Theo The Mouse and Wendy Abrahams as The Fairies, actor-singer Matt Brinkler as The Prince, Craig Cowdroy as Nanny Nora, Katrina Gibson as Carabosse, not forgetting Princess Beauty being played by Telford girl Xenna Kristian.

Last year's pantomime of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs broke all previous box office records.

Sleeping Beauty will have 49 performances, two of which are disability friendly shows including a relaxed performance and a signed performance.

Shows will take place from December 7 to 31. Tickets can be booked online at theplacetelford.com by calling the box office on 01952 382382, or in person at Oakengates Theatre or Southwater One in Telford.
