Where to see Christmas lights switch-ons in Shropshire
Christmas spirit is creeping in and will soon be coming to you as festive lights light up the towns of Shropshire.
There's markets, choirs and even free mince pies accompanying the switching on of the festive lights, marking the arrival of Christmas in cities and towns.
Here is where they are taking place:
Shrewsbury - November 16
Shrewsbury festivities spread across the town with live music taking place at several venues across the town, Santa's sleigh will be on Pride Hill and Jack the Jester will be entertaining audiences. There is still more information to be revealed.
Oswestry - November 17
Local choirs will provide entertainment from 4pm until a special guest switches on the lights on the Bailey Head at 6pm.
Bridgnorth - November 18
A variety of stalls, entertainment and attractions including performances from Bridgnorth Primary Schools Choir, the four local Primary Schools and Galaxy Dance will start at 4pm leading up the lights switch-on.
Llandrindod Wells - November 19
A light and lantern parade starts at 4pm from the the market to the bandstand where the lights will flicked on at 5pm. Followed by parade judging and community carol singing led by the Llandrindod Wells Silver Band.
Telford - November 19
There is entertainment all day in the centre with Bjorn the Bear and Sparky the Robot in attendance. A pyrotechnic display will lead up to the switch-on at 4pm.
Market Drayton - November 19
The Market Drayton switch-on is an all day affair with Christmas stalls, singing and entertainment building up to the flicking of the switch at 5pm.
Shifnal - November 25
The Shifnal lights will be switched on at 6.45pm but head down from 6pm for the popular Christmas market, disco, pig roast and free face painting.
Newport - November 25
A procession through town kicks off a night of festivities when the lights will be switched on by the winner of a Christmas card competition. This will be followed by a festive sing-a-long in the church accompanied by the Salvation Army.
Dawley - November 25
The Mayor of Great Dawley will switch on the lights at 6.30pm after an entire day of events. From 12.30pm there will be a street fayre, facepainting, mascots plus the exotic zoo will be in attendance with donkeys, ponies and warm cuddly animals.
Ellesmere - November 25
From 4pm the town will host a Christmas market plus a grotto experience and at 6pm the tree of light will be illuminated accompanied by carols in the square. Father Christmas is expected to arrive by Narrow Boat at 6.30pm.
Broseley- November 26
In the Birchmeadow Centre there will be entertainment from 1pm to 5pm. Victoria Hall will be open for crafters to set up at 2.30pm and will open to the public at 4pm. The lights will be switched on at 7pm.
Wellington - November 26
Wellington Christmas Lights Switch will also include a Victorian market.
A fun day will run from 9am to 6pm, with the actual switch-on taking place at 5pm.
There will also be a free Christmas Lantern Making Workshop from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Wellington Methodist Church on New Street.
Whitchurch - November 26
Building up to a 5pm switch-on there will be a lantern parade kicking off at 4.30pm. A Christmas market will start at 10.30am and carry throughout the day. The lights will be switched on by the Citizen Of The Year as voted for by Whitchurch.
Newtown - November 28
Joint he fun at 4pm for a food and crafts market with street entertainment and music. Expect Santa to arrive at 6.45pm to switch on the lights at 7pm with the winner of the Mayor's raffle.
St Georges - December 2
Join some of the cast of The Place's panto Sleeping Beauty along with The Abraham Darby Brass Band, Jac Cassidy Clubbercise and The Cordinairies. Local companies will also be donating selection boxes and mince pies. The festivities start at 3pm leading up to a 6.30pm switch on.
Oakengates - December 3
Oakengates are aiming for their best yet with a Christmas Market starting at 9am and live music from local performers starting at 12.30pm until 5.30pm when the lights will be swtiched on.
