One company who has undergone quite a significant change in the last 12 months is the former Trinity Operatic Society, which is now known as Trinity Musical Theatre Company.

To reflect the modernisation of theatrical productions and in order to attract new and more progressive audiences in 2015 this group, who previously specialised in Gilbert and Sullivan and light operettas, decided to move into musical theatre. From Tuesday to November 5, members will be presenting The Witches of Eastwick, at the Mill Theatre, Dormston Centre in Sedgley.

It's the story of three female protagonists who are bored and frustrated with their mundane lives in the backwater of Eastwick; that is until a handsome, charismatic stranger called Darryl Van Horne arrives.

The score of this show includes the rousing ensemble numbers Dirty Laundry, Dance with the Devil and Eastwick Knows, as well as the beautiful ballad, I Wish I May which is a particular favourite of mine.

Local singers Phaedra Brickwood, Beth Berwick-Lowe and Maggie Page will appear as the witches, with Mitchell Bastable as Daryl Van Horne, reprising the role he played in 2014 with Brierley Hill Operatic Society.

It has apparently been a steep learning curve for Trinity, as they have undergone a transformation of their membership and had production skills stretched. Like the witches, they have been reborn.

Evening performances are at 7.30pm and there is a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. For tickets call 07816 040614 or visit www.seaty.co.uk

Bilston Youth Theatre is seeking a young man to play the lead, Ren McCormack, in their April 2017 production of Footloose. This group is aimed at performers aged 15 to 20.

Ren is a teenager from Chicago and so a good American accent is essential, as is the ability to sing and dance. It is a leading role and so would suit a confident, experienced young performer.

The group is holding auditions on November 9. Contact Sarah Houghton on 07798 792248.

From November 9-12, Charlemont Dramatic Society, which performs at The Theatre, Gayton Road Community Centre in West Bromwich, will be presenting the popular thought-provoking comedy, Cheshire Cats.

A group of ladies from Cheshire decide to complete the London Moonwalk to raise money for a cancer charity and so they don their decorated bras and cat suits with the intention of also enjoying a girly weekend away.

Follow the tale of the girls as they train for the event, suffer blisters and argue their way along the route. Cheshire Cats is a cross between a girls' night out and a charity fundraiser. It's moving, emotional but best of all it will make you laugh out loud.

In this production, the role of Hilary is taken by Stephanie Agger, Vicky is played by Eliza Harris and Yvonne by Amy Whistance.

There are nightly performances at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Malcolm Wills on 0121 544 1995 or 07913 300385, or by emailing hilld28@sky.com

Meanwhile, Enville Street Dramatic Society is presenting the Francis Durbridge 1980's tale of murder and suspense, House Guest, at Amblecote Holy Trinity Church Hall from November 16-19.

Set in the home of well-known film stars Robert and Stella Drury, the plot unfolds one dramatic crisis after another, leaving bodies literally littering the stage.

When they learn that their son has been kidnapped – not for ransom – but to force Robert and Stella to allow one of the kidnappers to remain in their house, the couple are naturally horrified. Then two other men, supposedly police officers, arrive and reveal that one of the kidnappers has been murdered. Soon, however, it is clear that these two are far from what they seem.

House Guest is a spine-tingling thriller guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat.

Finally this week, for something a little gentler, Stourport Choral and the choir of Burlish Park Primary School are presenting A Disney Experience on November 18-19 at The Civic, Stourport, which is a superb showcase of Disney classics.

Expect all your favourites, including tunes from Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, Snow White and Frozen.

Children are encouraged to come in Disney fancy dress, but of course adults can join in too if they wish. Let's face it, everyone loves Disney!

Oh and it is worth mentioning that the concert starts at 7pm.

For tickets, £10 for adults, £5 for children aged five-16 and free for under-5s, call 01562 751980 or visit www.thecivicstourport.co.uk
