In the USA Paul was a finalist on Series 6 of NBC's Last Comic Standing.

His new show won rave reviews at Edinburgh Festival and comedy writer Tom Crosby awarded it a four-star rating.

Mr Crosby said: "Despite the apparent lack of form and direction to the material, it is at heart keenly written surreal abstractions from observational tirades.

"He pulls apart school, marriage and other more base topics in a fashion only he could achieve.

"Half the humour is just him; the aura he creates and the inherent comedy that oozes from his presence.

"It's conceptual ultimately, the ability to mine something totally new and expected through the prism of a loud, almost obnoxious and somewhat vulnerable, stage persona.

"A thing almost unique to him.

"Being less reliant on the crowd work and milking individual scenarios this year, Foot has regained the control his wayward stage voice demands."
