Ed Sheeran in Shropshire: Radio 1's Scott Mills looks back on surprise visit to Harper Adams University

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills was back in Newport last week at the Harper Adams University Freshers Ball - and while here he reflected on the day Ed Sheeran shocked students by appearing on his live show from the university.

Ed appeared at the college as a surprise guest, along with his friend fellow singer Jamie Lawson.

The pair were close to the university and appeared at the college after receiving a message from Mills on the social networking site Twitter.

Sporting a Harper Adams gilet for much of the broadcast, Ed was even auctioned off by students in a faux livestock auction in the grounds - where fake bids reached up to £12,000 - describing the experience as "weird."

He was also present to watch Mills' one-off Harper Adams dating show "Pull the Udder One" featuring university students including 19-year-old Seth Bird, who was dubbed "Shed Sheeran" for his likeness to the singer.
