The Pains Grey group met at St John's Church in Muxton to watch a demonstration of oil painting and raffle off a piece of donated work for charity.

About 60 people attended the celebration and enjoyed a piece of cake to mark the milestone.

Chairwoman of the group, Anthea Arnot, said it was formed by pupils of local watercolour artist Bob Spendlove and has more than 100 members. The social group meets three or four times a year for demonstrations, holds exhibition of pupils' work, workshops and arranges painting holidays for members to Wales, Cornwall and Yorkshire.

At the event, Bridgnorth painter Vicki Norman began a piece of work for the demonstration and a watercolour painting called Three at the Barre by David Wilcox was auctioned for a charity which uses art as a therapy. She said all the members had a brilliant time last Saturday. Ms Arnot added: "We have quite a busy schedule as a group but it is very enjoyable.

"We are more of a social group. The artist was very entertaining and clearly spoken and did a very detailed explanation of what she was doing and why she was doing it."

The group is planning to hold a 10th anniversary show, which will be put up opposite Waterstones at Telford Shopping Centre. There are set to be 130 pieces on show

from October 30 to November 6.
