We've come up with some places to visit in Shropshire to help escape your woes when the weather is being... well, British.

The Venue, Park Hall

Offering both a tenpin bowling alley and a soft play centre, The Venue is ideal for Shropshire families looking to entertain the little ones. It also runs children's activity based classes for children from baby to teenage ages. Weekly classes at the attraction range from Diddy Dance to Pyjama Drama. The Venue also hosts children's parties.

Park Hall Farm, near Oswestry

While this is a superb place to take the kids to see the animals in the sun, Park Hall Farm also offers a range of indoor play areas - perfect for rainy days.

Its Warren Playbarn boasts nets, slides and ropes, while the Main Arena Playbarn offers bouncy castles and toy tractors. There is also a Monkey Business Adventure Playground, a Water Blaster Game and a Demon Drop Slide - plenty to keep the youngsters entertained.

RAF Museum, Cosford

In the mood for a dose of history? With fully preserved aircrafts in the museum as well as plenty of interactive things to do, this is a way to feel exhilarated without having to go outside. RAF Cosford is still host to our servicemen, so you can see how the real heroes do it on a day to day basis.

Fantastic Funhouse, Oswestry

Stuck for somewhere to take the little ones? Try this indoor soft play centre situated in a Grade Two listed building, which was formerly the Cambrian Rail Works.

Activites on offer at the Gobowen Road venue include three frames of adventure, an indoor football pitch and a 'garage' go-kart track.

Telford Ice Rink

Glide around and show off your tricks at the recently refurbished Telford Ice Rink at the Southwater Complex.

The ice pad is just under Olympic size at 56m by 26m and promises entertainment for all ages and offers a fun way to keep in shape. There are a number of different activities available such as ice skating clubs, public skating sessions, birthday parties, crash courses, hockey training and disco sessions.

The ice rink is home to English Premier League ice hockey team the Telford Tigers, with regular home games.
