The arrival of both the Flying Scotsman and the Tornado locomotives has generated unprecedented interest from across the UK, with tickets to ride behind the engines selling out at the fastest rate the railway has ever seen.

Due to the huge popularity of the event, the SVR has put in place measures to ensure the safety and security of its visitors and staff and is urging the public to plan their visit in advance.

Access to the SVR's six stations - at Bridgnorth, Hampton Loade, Highley, Arley, Bewdley and Kidderminster - will be strictly controlled, with only those holding pre-booked event tickets being guaranteed access to platforms. Tickets will not be available on the day and car parking at the stations will also be significantly limited.

The railway has also been working with local attractions and owners of land alongside the line, to offer safe places for people to see the locomotive as it travels along the SVR's 16-mile span.

Eardington Nature Reserve, Eardington Halt, Severn Valley Country Park, Coombys Farm, Severn Lodge and fields at Hampton Loade and Arley are among some of the pre-arranged viewing spots, open to the public for a small fee with parking, and sometimes, refreshments on offer.

The Severn Valley Railway has urged people who don't have a ticket but want to see the locomotives to use one of these dedicated viewing sites and have issued warning to the public not to walk on or near the track.
