Red Arrows making a detour to fly over Shropshire event
The skies above Shropshire will turn red – or possibly even red, white and blue – when the Red Arrows aerobatic team make a detour through the county on Sunday.
Travelling from the south en route to Anglesey in North Wales, the RAF display team has agreed a slight detour to fly over Loton Park Hill Climb, near Shrewsbury.
Hagley Car Club paddock marshal John Brownlie of Shrewsbury, who has organised the fleeting fly-past, said: "The Red Arrows are a simply wonderful spectacle and have a special place in the hearts of most people.
"We are both honoured and absolutely delighted that they have agreed to alter their route to visit our club's hill climb meeting, and they should be in view at precisely three minutes to three on Sunday afternoon."
Loton Park is hosting two separate days of speed hill climb racing this weekend for a wide variety of sports, classics, saloons and racing cars up the narrow and demanding tarmac course through the picturesque deer park of Sir Michael Leighton's stately home, in the village of Alberbury, near Shrewsbury.
