The Steam on the Road event, held on the Severn Valley Railway, saw enthusiasts enjoy the sight of a variety of vehicles.

The line that runs from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster hosted the rally at the weekend.

It included a number of road steam vehicles including steamrollers, traction engines and steam wagons.

Lewis Maddox, events and footplace manager at Severn Valley Railway, said: "We had more than 1,700 tickets purchased on the days, which is a good August weekend.

"There was also a large number of pre-booked tickets purchased, however, we cannot pin down when these tickets were used.

"The event was a great success on a whole, and plans are afoot for next year already."

The vehicles all took part in a road run to Kidderminster Station. Eight full size traction engines and miniature engines were already providing entertainment for enthusiasts at Kidderminster station when the steam vehicles arrived.

The event also featured other attractions such as a Traction Engine Play Pen in the station car park.

The Severn Valley Railway is to host the Goldwing Gathering on August 26 and the Western Weekend which takes place on the August bank holiday weekend.
