Video and gallery: Stokesay Court hosts Ludlow Dog Day
Some were washed and preened to within an inch of their life, some trained to jump hurdles and skip between barriers.
But every one of the hundreds of dogs were loved and appreciated by the 3,000 or so visitors who came to watch.
Ludlow Dog Day, organised by The Rotary Club of Ludlow, took place in the beautiful surroundings of Stokesay Court, with more than 1,500 entries across the numerous categories.
Angus Kerr, vice-president of the Rotary club of Ludlow, said the day had been a huge success, with more visitors expected than the last year.
He said: "It has been very successful, we have had a great attendance and it looks as though we have surpassed last year's which is very impressive.
"It has been a great day for people and I think they have had a lot of fun."
The event raises money for four charities, PDSA, The Severn Hospice, Megan Baker House, and Canine Partners.
This year saw the return of Escape to the Country presenter Jules Hudson, who provided some commentary throughout the day, while Kate Bliss, an antiques expert from BBC's Bargain Hunt, also made an appearance with her dog Bramble.
The event features a host of entertainment including four event rings, a packed programme of dog displays, and competitions – for owners and their dogs.
This year there were more than 1,500 entries in the dog categories with the title of Best in Show going to Beau, owned by Michael and Linda Fenny of Bedstone.
As well as the competitions, visitors could also enjoy a wide variety of stalls and activities, including a play area for the children.
Mr Kerr offered his thanks to the owner of Stokesay Court, Caroline Magnus, for hosting the event.
He said: "We are very grateful to Caroline Magnus who allows us to use Stokesay Court which is a truly wonderful setting."
