"The Voice has been great.

"My family came to the show last week and Will I AM and Ricky Wilson took time out to speak to them.

"Tom Jones was great too in the first couple of years.

"All the contestants have been fun to work with as well.

"The BBC has looked after us all in the band respecting the work load on us.

"The blind auditions can be hard work as there are so many songs to learn - around 120 each time.

"We are on the lives now and I enjoy the added excitement of "anything" can happen. The final is this Saturday."

Ash has been working professionally as a drummer for more than 20 years and recently recorded most of the drums on the new Ronan Keating album.

He left Shropshire and went to music college in Salford in 1989 then moved to London in 1991.

Since then he has toured with Squeeze, Lisa Stansfield, Belinda Carlisle and Will Young and recorded on tracks for Adele, James Morrison, Robbie Williams, Seal, Cee Lo Green and Cher.

He added: "Recently I've been working with the movie composers Lorne Balfe and Hans Zimmer.

"I did the Terminator Genysis soundtrack with Lorne and Kung Fu Panda 3 with Lorne and Hans.

"This is a new area of recording for me and I love working with Lorne.

"I live in Norfolk now with my family and I have a studio in the base of an old windmill where I record.

"I recently recorded most of the drums on the new Ronan Keating album there.

"I have also been working with Bryan Adams too and I recorded the drums for the recent Kung Fu Panda 3 movie."

Ash will be performing at the Voice UK final which airs tonight on BBC One.
