Staff at Tin House Cantonese restaurant and takeaway in The Parade in Wellington, Telford, are among those who will mark the occasion, and they have lined up a multi-course banquet and fireworks display. Mantin Lee, who runs the restaurant, said: "This year like many previous has been booked up for months, but people can still join in the celebrations by ordering from the Tin House takeaway.

"It's our biggest event of the year so we put in a lot of effort to make it extraordinary. We hold our themed banquet feast followed by a prize draw and of course an array of fireworks to warn off evil dragons, as told by Chinese folk laws. The restaurant will also be decorated with traditional Chinese decorations to symbolise good fortune and happiness."

The business has been established for 10 years and has seen almost every year of Chinese Zodiac animals.

The year of the snake involved live snakes visiting the restaurant. But this year, despite Mr Lee's best efforts, the restaurant will have to settle for a toy monkey to get their customers in the spirit of the new year.
