But before they took to the stage to perform hits including Red Red Wine, I?Got You Babe, and (I Can't Help)?Falling in Love With You, lead singer Duncan Campbell and other members of the band called in at the Britannia Inn, Castle Forgate, for a drink. Here they chatted to fans, including Dawn Campbell, who works at the pub.

They they then performed in front of 1,000 people at The Buttermarket.

Grant Lees, group operations director for The Buttermarket said:?"For The Buttermarket, and in particular Shrewsbury, to play host to a world-renowned band such as UB40 is a major coup for the town.

"They are on a huge tour at the moment and they wanted to do an intimate gig and they thought that The Buttermarket would be the ideal location.

"It was fantastic to see a diverse audience engaging with the band, sending many of them back to their teens and reliving memories from the 80s.

"Judging by the crowd's reaction, Red Red Wine was the hit of the night."
