People were invited along to have a look at a community allotment exhibition made of crocheted, knitted and felted veg and animals at Oswestry Library in Arthur Street on Saturday.

The textile allotment will be in the library until October 31 as part of the Oswestry Makes 2015 festival.

The festival theme this year is 'Dyed in the Wool' and exhibits are welcomed that feature wool – either knitted, crocheted, felted, or sewn. Also at the launch event was poet Jonny Fluffypunk and a musical workshop.

Library manager Debbie Marais said the launch event went fantastically.

She said: "Well over 100 people came to see us.

"Jonny the poet worked non-stop and was very popular. We also had young musicians downstairs who have been amazing. It was a chance for residents to try different arts and crafts.

"We are all looking forward to the weekend now and see what the rest of the craft festival has in store. There will be textile making workshops in various venues around the town, including Pincushion, Chalk, Willow Gallery and the Memorial Hall."
