Road delays around Weston Park as V Festival fans leave

Road delays were reported this morning as fans continued to leave Weston Park after this year's V Festival.

Delays were reported on the A5 at Weston under Lizard and on ath A41 at Tong as cars streamed from the site,

Crowds descended on the region from across the country for the festival, which included acts such as Kasabian and Sir Tom Jones as well as local girl Ellie Goulding, who showed just how far she has come from humble beginnings.

The 28-year-old, who grew up in Kington near the south Shropshire border, entertained thousands of music lovers at Weston Park to cement her status as one of the top acts in pop music.

The 80,000-strong crowd had sunbathed, tried to shelter from the rain, danced, rocked out and sung along with more than 100 music acts throughout the weekend. But emergency services were kept busy looking after injured revellers or those feeling the effects of partying.

By yesterday, medical crews had treated 611 patients, with on-site ambulance crews being called out 86 times – to 57 medical cases and 29 trauma cases. Twenty-two people had been taken to hospital, which included some who had suffered injuries after falling over and suffered suspected lower leg fractures.
